The table recalls various period styles from the 17th century on for finding a harmonic synthesis with the long history of an old customs, which became characteristic because of the inexhaustible disputes and fighting for centuries caused by the question of the borderline.

The furniture pieces arises from a drawer of a chest coming from the 17th century. Instead, the table legs are of larch, which derive from a kitchen table in country style of the 19th century, are put in a form of transparent resin, which reminds the style of "Louis XVI" at the end of the 18th century. The wood, used for the tabletop and frame, are of fir and derive from an old attic.

The rectangular box hanging over the table brings into light the history of the village Ca' di Lanzi in Chiesina, on the borderline of Bologna and Modena. The box, which is formed by fullness and emptiness, represents different openings that refer to the remained windows in the location and functions as a light-box. The pictures, which are inserted in the box, describe the present landscape of the village, totally abandoned.

 

HILLSIDEOUT adheres to its vision of furnishings by evoking "living memory" through the combination of old construction styles with technological narration.
